Pathway Programs
A Path to Pacific’s PharmD Program

The School has collaborated with several institutions to offer a pathway program to qualified students. The goal of the pathway program is to provide students with the opportunity to receive priority admission into the accelerated 3-year doctor of pharmacy (PharmD) program. Students will need to meet select criteria including required pre-requisite courses, GPA minimums and successful completion of an interview and writing sample. Additional requirements vary based on the partner institution pathway agreements.

Students who are interested in the pathway program must declare an interest by submitting an application. Once students meet criteria for applying to the PharmD program they must apply during early action and submit both an application through PharmCAS and supporting supplemental documentation.

The School has collaborated with University of California, Merced to offer a pathway program to qualified students. The goal of the pathway program is to provide prospective students from UC Merced the opportunity to receive priority admission into Pacific’s PharmD program. As part of our established pathway agreement, the School will reserve five admission seats in the PharmD program for qualified applicants. Qualified applicants receive early, guaranteed admission, pending successful completion of pathway requirements.

Pathway program application materials can be submitted at any time. Applications must be submitted prior to the Early Action deadline.

Pathway Requirements

To be considered for the pathway program, you must:

  • Apply to the Guaranteed Admissions Pathway while attending UC Merced by filling out the Admissions Pathway Application.
  • Attain a minimum overall cumulative grade point and calculated overall math/science grade point average of 3.0.
  • Successfully complete all PharmD prerequisite course work. For a list of course equivalencies, please review the Articulation Agreements.
  • Earn a bachelor's degree (good-faith admission may be granted to students who are within one semester of degree completion but the degree must be confirmed prior to full admission being granted).
  • Complete a PharmCAS Early Action application.
  • Submit two letters of recommendation. One MUST be from a professor from an institution you attended within the last three years. Pacific highly recommends you choose a pharmacist to recommend you; however, a pharmacist recommendation is not a requirement.
  • Receive a satisfactory rating on a personal interview and a writing sample. Qualifying for an interview and required writing sample may not result in guaranteed admission. During the interview, students must be able to express an appropriate rationale for their pursuit of the pharmacy profession and demonstrate interpersonal verbal and written communication skills necessary for the study and practice of pharmacy.
  • Have a satisfactory Criminal Background Check (CBC) clearance.
  • Be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the U.S., or in the process of obtaining permanent U.S. residency.
  • Be able to meet the PharmD Technical Standards.

Conditions of Acceptance

If successfully admitted to a Pathway Program, a student must meet all conditions of acceptance in order to enroll in Pacific’s PharmD program.
