Sara Fouad Mahmoud, PharmD, BCCCP earned her bachelors degree in pharmaceutical sciences from Cairo University and her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Colorado, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She completed a PGY1 pharmacy residency at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar and an Academic Pharmacy fellowship at the University of Southern California, Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She is also a board certified critical care pharmacist.

Her passion for patient care started with her role as a student in helping underserved populations. Dr. Mahmoud has over a decade of experience as a clinical pharmacist in several specialties, primarily in critical care and emergency medicine. She also practiced in general medicine, cardiology and surgery. She led several quality projects such as implementing antimicrobial stewardship for a urology and emergency department, as well as an anticoagulation stewardship for orthopedic surgery. She precepted an emergency medicine rotation for PharmD and PGY1 programs. She coordinated the health care system’s continuous professional development office.

Dr. Mahmoud served as the organizational and scientific committee member for the Qatar Pharmacy Conference. She has received many awards for her work in professional development and expanding pharmacy practice internationally.

In addition to being a member in several organizations, she is part of the American Academy College of Pharmacy’s health technology special interest group. She is also a board member of the Middle East Pharmacy Association in California.

A world traveler who enjoys nature, her interests include hiking, water activities and golf. She previously participated in dragon boat racing.

Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Mahmoud is passionate about helping students succeed. Her philosophy is to train future pharmacists to be competent and confident practitioners. She believes that pharmacy education should empower pharmacists to pursue their area of interest and be capable of becoming future leaders.
